Den blev konstrueret helt tilbage i 1881 og er dermed USA\u2019s \u00e6ldste overlevende roadside turist attraktion.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy blev designet af James V. Lafferty. Han havde f\u00e5 \u00e5r forinden s\u00f8gt patent p\u00e5 at bygge bygninger formet som dyr. Lucy the Elephant blev bygget for at booste salget af ejendomme i Margate City og tiltr\u00e6kke turister. Lucy er bygget af tr\u00e6 og tinfolie.<\/p>\n<p>Og Lucy er ikke helt lille. Den vejer 90 tons og er den 11. h\u00f8jeste statue i USA. Den er knap 20 meter h\u00f8j.<\/p>\n<p>Du kan betragte Lucy udefra eller g\u00e5 p\u00e5 opdagelse inde i den.
