The Leaning Tower of Texas i byen Groom h\u00e6lder s\u00e5ledes, at det har en omtrentlig 80 graders vinkel med jorden. Der har hverken v\u00e6ret jordsk\u00e6lv, tornado, angreb fra det ydre rum eller andre udefra kommende faktorer, der har for\u00e5rsaget dette. Vandt\u00e5rnet er nemlig med vilje monteret sk\u00e6vt. Det g\u00f8r vandt\u00e5rnet ganske ubrugeligt som fuldt udnyttet vandt\u00e5rn, da det ville tilte, hvis det var helt tomt eller helt fyldt.<\/p>\n<p>Vandt\u00e5rnet har p\u00e5malet \u201cBritten USA\u201d og er opsat af Ralph Britten. Han \u00f8nskede at oprette et truckstop ved den lille by Groom langs Route 66. Og han vidste godt han var i konkurrence med alle de andre sm\u00e5 steder, hvor man kunne tanke benzin og f\u00e5 en bid mad i de n\u00e6rliggende sm\u00e5byer langs Route 66. Derfor havde han behov for at have noget, der fik de rejsende til at stoppe i lige netop Groom. Det sk\u00e6ve vandt\u00e5rn var l\u00f8sningen. Det blev hurtigt et kendingsm\u00e6rke langs Route 66, som folk stoppede op for at betragte og fotografere. Og s\u00e5 kunne man naturligvis lige tanke bilen og spise frokost samtidigt. F\u00f8r vandt\u00e5rnet blev et kendt spot, gav det anledning til mange sjove episoder. Rejsende langs Route 66 kom styrtende ind p\u00e5 truckstoppet og fortalte at byens vandt\u00e5rn var ved at v\u00e6lte. S\u00e5 blev de blot budt p\u00e5 kaffe og fik med ro i stemmen fortalt, at s\u00e5dan havde det st\u00e5et l\u00e6nge.<\/p>\n<p>Ralph Brittens truckstop blev desv\u00e6rre komplet raseret i en brand efter mange succesfulde \u00e5r.
