Her kan du se de sm\u00e5 aktive pr\u00e6riehunde stikke hovederne op fra deres gange i jorden og pile livligt rundt. De er simpelthen bare s\u00e5 s\u00f8de og helt enormt sjove.<\/p>\n<p>Det er gratis at bes\u00f8ge Prairie Dog Town. Der er stier rundt om pr\u00e6riehunde kolonien og en udsigtsplatform og en pavilion. Der er desuden tavler der fort\u00e6ller om pr\u00e6riehunde og koloniens historie. Der er plantet naturlige pr\u00e6riegr\u00e6sser, s\u00e5ledes pr\u00e6riehundene lever i deres naturlige omgivelser.<\/p>\n<p>Pr\u00e6riehunde kolonien blev opstartet i starten\u00a0af 1930\u2019erne af et lokalt \u00e6gtepar. De startede ud med fire pr\u00e6riehunde og to huler. Siden blev pe\u00e6riehunde kolonien flyttet til dens nuv\u00e6rende placering. I dag er der flere hundrede pr\u00e6riehunde og mange huler i kolonien. De s\u00f8de pr\u00e6riehunde har endda f\u00e5et deres helt egen ambassad\u00f8r, Prarie Dog Pete. Og alle kender byen Lubbock for at v\u00e6re byen med pr\u00e6riehundene.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00f8r europ\u00e6erne ankom til Texas var der rigtig mange pr\u00e6riehunde i staten, estimeret til intet mindre end 400 millioner pr\u00e6riehunde.
